I was attacked in a dark parking lot. Is the owner responsible for my injuries and damages?

Transcription

It’s very possible that the owner of the parking lot is responsible and libel to you for your injuries and damages. It would depend on the circumstances. Generally, if there is a dangerous condition that existed, such as in this parking lot, that the owner knew of should have known of, and took no action to correct it, then they could be libel for negligent security.

In this situation, the first question would be whether other crimes that had occurred in this location that the owner knew of. If so, and the question would be did he take any action to make the place safer? Such as, this happened at night, did he add more lighting? Did he add to the security personnel? Did he add cameras? Did he put up signs? Did he do anything else to make this location safer if he knew of this situation?

If there were crimes that occurred, most likely he would know if the police were called. So, if he didn’t do the appropriate things to make the location safer, then he definitely could be libel for negligent security. In this type of case, it can be a little complicated, so it’s definitely a good idea to contact an attorney to discuss your case.
