Yes, a brain injury can definitely occur whether the victim loses consciousness or not. The loss of conscious is something to consider, but the real question is was there an injury or was there not? Often people get concussions, they don’t lose consciousness, or they may lose consciousness hours later, or the next day. Brain contusions, bruises on the brain, that’s something that may not cause you to lose consciousness. Even penetrating injury, when something enters your brain, people can often still be conscious when that happens. The real issue is was there an injury, not whether you lose consciousness or not.
