Will I have to pay anything out-of-pocket in my Florida personal injury case?

Transcription

Actually no, you will not have to pay anything out of pocket for your Florida personal injury case, meaning that as far as attorneys’ fees, you will not pay anything to your attorney up front. It will be a contingency fee case, which means any money the attorney gets for attorneys’ fees would come at the end of the case, when the proceeds or the money that are given to you in settlement, when they actually are turned over, the attorney would get 33 and 1/3 percent prior to filing a lawsuit, and after filing a lawsuit would get 40% of that amount. It wouldn’t come from you out of pocket as far as expenses, the attorney generally will pay for expenses such as the cost of depositions, cost of medical records, cost of expert witnesses, and at the end of the case, the attorney will be reimbursed from the settlement proceeds of the money you receive as well, so you wouldn’t pay any money until there was some sort of settlement in the case, and the money would not come directly from you, but from the money as part of the settlement.
